Phones and connected devices

Lower Cycle (S1-S3)

The use of personal digital devices is prohibited inside all facilities. Learners hand in their switched-off digital device(s) at the beginning of the school day, before 8 a.m., or as soon as they arrive at their Studio, at the Assistant’s table. The devices are stored in boxes and these are kept out of sight.

Learners can collect their devices at the end of the morning, when official learning time ends, generally at 1pm, or even at 12.15pm if there is no more official learning time before the lunch break. Leaving the Studio between 12:15 and 1:00 p.m. to go and eat and follow a long activity afterwards is not equivalent to free time and the devices of the Learners concerned therefore remain in the Studio until 1:00 p.m.

Again, in the afternoon, Learners hand in their devices by 2.30pm at the latest and do not collect them until 4pm. Early departures for health reasons (illness, medical appointments, etc.) are of course exceptions.

The devices is not returned during the morning breaks and their use remains prohibited.

If, for the first learning time in the morning or afternoon, Learners are expected to go to the sports hall or a special room, they first return their devices to their Studio and make sure they are punctual for the start of their learning time.

Mid and Upper Cycles (S4-S7)

The use of personal digital devices is prohibited inside all facilities. Whereas devices are not being collected, they must be switched off and stored out of sight

For reasons of fairness, Learners of the mid cycle must not use their devices during break times, even outside the facilities.

Lunchtime

The use of personal digital devices is permitted at lunchtime and outside the facilities.

In addition, the use of iPads is prohibited in the refectory between 12.15pm and 2.30pm

Learners taking part in an extracurricular activity return their switched-off devices to the pockets provided for this purpose in the rooms where the activities take place.

Sanctions in the event of non-compliance

All members of the school community are invited to ask Learners to respect these instructions. They are also expected to respect them themselves.

  1. In the event of an offence, kindness and education are to be preferred over repression. When first questioned, a Learner should be asked either to put the device away (middle and upper cycles, lunch break), or to hand it in to be stored in the dedicated box (lower cycle).
  1. In the event of a repeat offence in the same week, an entry will be made in the electronic school book.
  1. In the event of a repeat offence during the same day, or even during the same learning period, the member of the community who carries out the questioning is authorized to collect the device. They will return it to the secretariat, where the Learner can collect it at the end of the day, at 1 p.m. for short days and at 4 p.m. for long days. There, they will prove that they are the owner of the device they wish to collect by unlocking it in front of a member of the secretariat.
  1. In the event of a Learner’s telephone being confiscated repeatedly over the course of the same fortnight, the secretariat will hand the device over to the management and inform the Learner’s parents that they may collect the device at 4 p.m. on the Friday of the week in question.
